About Us

PeaceWatch Initiative (PWI) was conceptualized in 2015 in collaboration with the late Malaysian Facilitator Dato’ Tengku Abdul Ghafar, who helped broker the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro—a historic milestone towards peace in Mindanao. His dedication to nonviolent resolution and community resilience inspires PWI’s mission to reduce violence and foster peace in Asia.

With over a decade of expertise, PWI brings field experience in ceasefire and violence monitoring in Myanmar, community engagement in Thailand, Peacebuilding on the Korean Peninsula, and supporting the political transition in Mindanao. These efforts, coupled with a nuanced understanding of local dynamics, inform PWI’s peacebuilding work.
